Three die in separate car crashes
Three people have been killed in a series of separate accidents on the region's roads this weekend.

Amy Longworth, 13, from the Ayton area of Washington, was knocked over and killed by a car on the A1231 Washington Highway on Saturday night.

In County Durham, Craig Samuels, 21, of Barnard Castle, who was in the Royal Navy, died when his car crashed near Piercebridge on Sunday morning.

A 22-year-old man also died when his car hit a bridge in County Durham.

This incident happened on the A1052 at Bournmoor at 0030 GMT on Sunday.

The dead man was named as Shaun Brown, from Fence Houses, who was in the RAF, based at Peterborough.

A 22-year-old woman from Shiney Row, who was also in the car, was treated in hospital and released.
