Championship footballer Michael Chopra has been fined for being drunk and disorderly following a night out in Newcastle city centre. The 26-year-old Cardiff City striker was arrested along with an 18-year-old man on Grey Street early on Sunday. Both men spent a few hours in a cell before they were issued with an £80 fixed penalty fine. Newcastle-born Chopra, who joined Cardiff in 2006, has played for both his home town and rivals Sunderland. Sunday's incident came after he played in Cardiff's 2-0 defeat against Barnsley. A Northumbria Police spokeswoman confirmed two men aged 26 and 18 had been arrested in Grey Street on 21 February 21 at 0130 GMT and been given a penalty notice for being drunk and disorderly. Cardiff manager Dave Jones said: "I spoke to Chops, it's been dealt with by the police and it's been dealt with by the club internally and as far as we're concerned we draw a line under it and move on."
