Burglars steal foreign currency

Police have appealed for information after foreign currency and travellers' cheques were stolen from a travel agents in Tyne and Wear.

The burglary, at Hays Travel in Durham Road, Birtley, took place between closing time on Friday and opening time on Saturday.

The amount taken, which also included sterling, has not yet been disclosed.

Anyone with information, or who is offered currency or cheques, is asked to contact Northumbria Police.
