Dog 'abandoned' by school burglar

The thief is thought to have fled empty handed when the school's alarm went off

Police believe a Jack Russell found at the scene of a burglary on Tyneside could have been abandoned by the thief.

Officers were called to the infant school on Alexandra Road, Gateshead, after a resident heard banging.

The thief is thought to have fled empty handed when the school's alarm went off, leaving behind the dog, which officers have named Bobby.

Anyone who recognises Bobby, or has information about the burglary - early on Sunday - should contact police.
