Motorcycles seized in crackdown

Motorbikes and alcohol were seized following joint patrols by police and council wardens in North Tyneside.

Parks and other public spaces were targeted during the four-day crackdown on illegal motorbike riding.

Officers impounded three motorbikes, two of which are suspected stolen. More than 30 litres of alcohol was seized and one person arrested.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said more joint patrols were being planned in the borough.

Insp Mick Todd said: "These joint patrols are effective and together we can cover more ground especially in open parkland.

"This is particularly important during the summer holiday period when more people are using the parks to enjoy their leisure time."
