Motorist dies in car ditch crash

A man has died after a car left the road and crashed into a ditch in Northumberland.

Police said the car crashed on the B6318 Military Road, near Matfen, on Friday afternoon.

The man, whose details have not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, a spokeswoman said.

Officers are investigating the cause of the crash which they say involved no other vehicles. The road has been closed due to flooding.
