Swine flu school remains closed

A South Tyneside school at the centre of a swine flu outbreak is to remain closed for the rest of the term because too many staff are sick.

Two teachers and a number of pupils at Cleadon Village C of E Primary have been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, and several others have flu-like symptoms.

The school was closed on Thursday, and will now remain shut until summer term ends on 17 July.

The closure affects approximately 420 children.

The school will re-open for the autumn term on 7 September.
