Woman sexually assaulted in city

A woman was sexually assaulted outside a popular nightspot in Newcastle city centre, police said.

The victim was alone outside the Gate complex on Newgate Street when she was attacked by a man in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A spokesman said the offender was black, of slim build with short black hair. He was wearing a white, black and red hooped top and blue jeans.
