Barking dog warns of house fire

A woman and her daughter were alerted to a fire at their Newcastle home by their dog barking.

The 25-year-old woman and her daughter, five, escaped unhurt from the house in Seaton Place, Walker, early on Monday.

Police said the woman was warned by her dog barking and they are investigating the fire, which was outside at ground floor level.

A 26-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of arson and bailed pending further inquiries.
