Huge red nose adorns cruise ferry

DFDS is donating cash from comedy cruises to the charity

A giant red nose has been unveiled on the bow of a ferry in Tyneside to raise money for charity.

Cruise operator DFDS Seaways inflated the 6m-diameter nose on the front of the King of Scandinavia ferry at its terminal in North Tyneside.

The firm is taking part in a series of events to raise cash for Comic Relief.

DFDS has organised comedy cruises between Tyneside and Amsterdam, with £5 from every booking going to the Red Nose Day charity.

John Crummie, UK managing director for DFDS Seaways, comments: "Comic Relief is an incredibly worthwhile charity, and their work in the UK and Africa is inspirational.

"We thought what better way to launch our charitable effort for Red Nose Day than by showcasing a giant red nose on one of our cruise ferries."

The nose will not be inflated while the vessel is at sea.
