Budding film makers hone skills

The 22nd Annual Royal Television Awards...

Budding young North East film makers were given the chance to hone their skills at a prestigious awards event.

The Sage in Gateshead was chosen to host the 22nd annual Royal Television Society North East and Borders Awards hosted by BBC News' Nicholas Owen.

As part of Digital Voice's Passionate About Media project, 17 young people were invited to cover the event.

With help from mentors in the industry they captured the ceremony on video, interactive DVD and blogs.

Graeme Thompson, Chair of the RTS in the North East said: "No industry is immune from the current economic downturn, but by any standards, media and production in this region has taken more than its share of pain.

"Our programme makers and media professionals have responded by creating world class television, animation and new media content across every available platform."

This Passionate about Media project is funded by Awards for All with additional support from Northern Film and Media.
