Appeal after bus driver is robbed

A bus driver has been robbed in Carlisle by a gang of youths who spat in her face.

The driver had stopped to let a passenger off when a group of teenage boys lifted the flap on the back of the bus which causes its engine to stop.

She got off the bus in Orton Road to confront the youths who spat in her face. One of them ran on to the bus.

The driver later realised cash had been stolen from the bus cab. The youths were aged between 12 and 16.

They were wearing hooded tops and tracksuit bottoms, Cumbria Police said.

The police would like to hear from three passengers who were on the vehicle at the time of the attack.
