Second malicious fire at college

Firefighters have tackled an arson attack at a college in North Tyneside, for the second time in a month.

They were called to Westgate Community College in Fenham, Newcastle, on Tuesday at 1830 GMT.

The blaze had been started in an unused music room at the school, which caused smoke and fire damage to the single storey building.

A fire spokeswoman said that they were also called to a malicious blaze in a classroom in December.

She confirmed that both incidents were under investigation.
