Four arrested over street attacks

Four teenagers have been arrested after attacks on a 13-year-old boy and his father within the space of an hour.

The boy suffered cuts to his face after he was set upon by a group of youths in North Shields on Thursday, who allegedly also made off with his bike.

His 42-year-old father was also attacked as he later searched for the gang and the bike. He suffered injuries requiring plastic surgery.

Four youths aged between 16 and 19 were subsequently arrested over the attacks.
