Lindisfarne to help flood victims

Lindisfarne frontman Rod Clements is to play a gig in aid of the victims of recent flooding in Northumberland.

The singer-songwriter will headline a Benefit Concert on 26 September to help people affected by the floods in Morpeth earlier this month.

Local musicians will take part in the event organised as part of the Morpeth Lions Flood Fund for those who have been made homeless or lost possessions.

Hundreds of people were evacuated when the River Wansbeck burst it's banks.

Rod Clements said: "I'm grateful to the organisers of this event for giving performers like me the chance to do something practical to help those affected by the flood.

"It feels like a small contribution but if everybody does what they can, we may be able to make a difference."

The concert line-up also includes Steve Daggett, Peter Donegan, Tom Mitchell, Carl Cape Stiansen and Northumbrian fiddler Jamie Robb.

It will take place at the Conservative Club on Newgate Street, Morpeth.
