Cash boost for community projects

A North East bakers has awarded grants totalling £116,000 to three projects.

Denton Young People's Project in Newcastle, which offers education and training, received £45,000 over three years from the Greggs Trust.

Phoenix Detached Youth Project in North Tyneside, also got £45,000 and the Single Homeless Action Initiative in Stanley, was boosted by £26,000.

The charity was set up in 1987 to improve the quality of life for people living in areas where Greggs has shops.
