Novice rescue dog finds lost man

An elderly man was found by a novice rescue dog after he went missing overnight in Northumberland.

The alarm was raised when 76-year-old Malcolm Gomme-Duncan failed to return to his home in Alnwick after going for a walk on Saturday.

Following a major search operation he was found on Sunday trapped in thick undergrowth near the A1.

His rescuer was Hamish, a Northumbria Police search and rescue dog which had only just finished its training.
