Charge over fire attack on woman

A man has been charged after a woman was set on fire on Tyneside.

The 34-year-old victim suffered burns to her hands, neck and chin in an attack in Grisedale Gardens, Gateshead.

Police said she was set alight after having flammable liquid poured over her on Tuesday night. She was later treated and discharged from hospital.

A 43-year-old man, from Grisedale Gardens, is to appear before Gateshead Magistrates' Court on Thursday, charged with wounding with intent.
