Sir Bobby blasts Brown Ale plant

A landmark building has been flattened to make way for a multi-million pound science quarter in Newcastle.

Former England and Newcastle manager, Sir Bobby Robson pressed the plunger to demolish the former Scottish and Newcastle Brewery bottling plant.

About 250kg of explosives was used to demolish the 50-year-old building, which was used to bottle Newcastle Brown Ale until 2005.

The site will be used for a new hotel, leisure and business facilities.
