Fire crews tackle moorland blaze

More than 30 firefighters were called to the blaze

More than 30 firefighters are tackling a peat fire on 10,000 sq m of moorland in Northumberland.

The cause of the blaze, which broke out on Monday at Grindon Farm, Haydon Bridge, has yet to be established.

The Northumbria Police helicopter was aiding crews from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service to assess the scale of the damage.

Access roads were closed due to drifting smoke, but nearby houses were not evacuated.
