Three released after shots fired

Three people have been released on police bail after shots were fired on a Tyneside street.

Officers were called to Coquet Avenue, South Shields, in the early hours of 17 April, following the reports from worried homeowners.

A house window in the street was later found to have been damaged. No-one was injured in the incident.

Two men aged 25 and 18 and a woman aged 20, who were later arrested, have been released on police bail.

A 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth who were also arrested, were released without charge.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police described the incident as "isolated" and said investigations were continuing.
