A teenage girl has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after a young mother was stabbed to death in a Tyneside street.

Samantha Madgin, 18, was stabbed a mile from her home in an alley in Wallsend, North Tyneside, in August last year.

A 15-year-old girl, who cannot be legally named, denied murder and affray but admitted manslaughter at the start of her trial at Newcastle Crown Court.

Ms Madgin, who gave birth to her son Callum two months before her death, died from multiple stab wounds.

The trial continues.
