Probe into multiple road crashes
The Highways Agency is investigating a spate of early-morning accidents on the A1 in Northumberland.

At least 10 vehicles either came off the road or were involved in minor collisions near Shilbottle on Tuesday.

No-one was seriously hurt and the crashes caused only a small amount of disruption to other motorists.

A Highways Agency spokesman said the carriageway had been gritted before the separate incidents, but that an inquiry would be carried out.
