Knifeman threatens bookies' staff
A robber armed with a knife threatened staff at a bookmakers in South Tyneside before making off with cash.

The man targeted Chisholms Bookmakers in Fielding Court, South Shields, on Thursday evening.

He threatened staff with the knife before they handed over an undisclosed amount of money. He then ran off towards Galsworthy Road.

He was around 5ft 10in tall, with a slim build and wearing a black and grey jacket, Northumbria Police said.
