The RAF airlifted the climber to hospital
A mountain rescue team had to interrupt a demonstration exercise to go to the aid of an injured climber.

Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team's were showing casualty handling techniques to medical students at Simonside on Sunday.

While this was ongoing, a rock climber fell from a nearby crag, and suffered chest injuries.

The team gave medical assistance, lowered him to the ground and arranged evacuation by RAF helicopter.

He was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
