Arrest after man dies of injuries
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder by police investigating a death on North Tyneside.

Officers, responding to what is described as an "incident", went to a house on Cardonnel Street in North Shields on Wednesday night.

They discovered a man suffering from injuries, from which he later died. His identity has not yet been released, but he is believed to be in his 30s.

A post-mortem examination is being carried out later.

The area around the house has been cordoned off while forensic tests are carried out.

A 31-year-old man, from the North Tyneside area, is being held in custody, helping police with their inquiries.
