The final episode of Byker Grove was shown in August 2006
The former Tyneside studio where the popular children's drama Byker Grove was filmed is being put up for sale.

Byker Grove Studios in Benwell, Newcastle, was home to the series for 17 years, until the final episode was filmed in August 2006.

The BBC programme, which launched the careers of TV favourites Ant and Dec, was set in a youth club.

Constructed in the early 19th century, the Grade II listed building is on the market for about 1m.

Byker Grove, which also featured actresses Donna Air and Jill Halfpenny, was first shown as a pilot in 1989.

The last episode was broadcast on BBC1 in September last year.
