Last day for city centre market
A popular city centre market on Tyneside is closing down as part of a 170m shopping centre revamp.

Newcastle's Greenmarket closed on Friday to make way for the huge redevelopment of Eldon Square, despite a legal challenge by stallholders.

Compensation deals have now been reached with market traders. Many have accepted cash settlements and stalls at alternative markets in the city.

The Eldon Square project is due for completion in 2009.
