A North East student has vowed to eat nothing but carrots for a month in a bid to turn her skin orange.
Hayley Davison is eating carrot soup and drinking carrot juice
Hayley Davison began the bizarre stunt after an argument with her housemates in Benwell, Newcastle.
The 19-year-old, who studies psychology at Northumbria University, claims that eating vast quantities of the vegetable will induce the condition carotenemia.
She said she hoped to turn as orange as television antiques expert David Dickinson or gain superhuman eyesight.
Her housemates were not convinced when she told them about a woman who had turned orange by drinking too much orange juice.
She said: "I was laughed at and nobody believed me. I knew this was no lie and hope those who laughed now feel very silly.
"I had to prove my point so I turned to Google and found that the girl had a condition called carotenemia.
"So will eating lots of carrots turn your skin orange? I plan to find this out as I eat a ridiculous amount of carrots over a period of thirty days."
So far she has eaten nothing but carrot soup, stir fry and dips, all washed down with carrot juice.
Carotenemia is skin discoloration caused by overeating foods like carrots, sweet potatoes or oranges.
