Gordon Brown visits Tyneside to open a union centre
Chancellor Gordon Brown will be on Tyneside on Monday to officially open a purposed-built trade union centre.

The state-of-the-art unionlearn centre at Newcastle College in George Street is within the Rye Hill campus and has 2,000 students.

The centre runs employment law and health and safety programmes for union representatives and tailor-made skills for life courses.

Unionlearn is the TUC union's learning and skills organisation.

Liz Smith, Director of the organisation said: "Unionlearn aims to change lives through learning, and our new centre at Newcastle College helps us deliver our promise to help trade union members and colleagues improve their skills."
