A former soldier has appeared in court charged with murdering four members of his family who were found shot dead at a house in Newcastle.
David Bradley was charged on Monday with the murders of his uncle Peter Purcell, aunt Josie, both 70, and two of their sons Keith, 44, and Glen, 41.
The bodies were found at their home in Benwell Grove on Sunday.
The 41-year-old, of Benwell Grove, was remanded in custody to appear before Newcastle Crown Court on 18 July.
Mr Bradley spoke only to confirm his name, age and address during the 10-minute hearing at Newcastle Magistrates' Court.
No application for bail was made.
