Rare 50-year-old recordings of two North sporting legends have been found during renovation of a cinema.
Twelve records of interviews with Newcastle's Jackie Milburn and Sunderland's Willy Watson were found during work at the Tyneside Cinema.
Now some copies of the vinyls, which are all 78s, will be auctioned on-line, to raise money for the cinema.
Milburn was a Newcastle United striking legend. Watson, also a cricketer, played in the 1950 World Cup.
The chief executive of the Newcastle cinema, Mark Dobson, said the recordings would inspire young people to get involved in sport.
He said: "Jackie Milburn says many lovely things on the records about young people getting involved in football.
"He also talks about his experience travelling to Brazil to the World Cup in 1950 and how many of the players got really sick on the boat, which is really funny."
New screens
"Wor Jackie" Milburn's footballing career with Newcastle United began against Millwall in August 1946.
He scored both goals in the FA Cup Final against Blackpool in 1951 and achieved cult status.
Later wins came against Arsenal in 1952 and Manchester City in 1955. He died in 1988.
Willie Watson was a cricketer who played for Yorkshire, Leicestershire and England. He was also an England soccer international.
As a footballer, Watson was a wing-half for Huddersfield Town, Sunderland and Halifax Town. He died in 2004.
Newcastle's Tyneside Cinema, which opened in 1937, is currently undergoing a revamp and is to get two new screens and a roof extension.
