The youth, who was attending the Hi:Fi North Festival at Matfen Hall Estate on Saturday, is recovering in hospital.
About 3,000 people attended and police made 53 arrests for drug offences in and around the site.
A variety of drugs were also seized in what Northumbria Police described as a "robust" policy.
A police spokesman said: "The policing operation went well.
"We said we'd take a robust approach, and we did this using a variety of resources, including drugs dogs."
