70m Sage set for Royal opening
Sage Gateshead
The Sage Gateshead was to be officially opened by the Queen
The Queen is formally opening Sage Gateshead, during a long-awaited visit to Tyne and Wear with the Duke of Edinburgh on Friday.

She was forced to postpone a trip to the region in April due to the run-up to the General Election.

She will also be visiting Newcastle's Dame Allan School, Burnside School and the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade.

The Duke of Edinburgh is visiting Washington Wildfowl Trust, and the Marine School at South Tyneside.

In addition, the Queen will meet members of the Pakistani Kashmiri community in the wake of the Asian earthquake disaster.
