A petrol station customer had a knife held to their throat during a robbery, police have said.
Northumbria Police said a man went into the payment area at the BP garage in Stamfordham Road, Newcastle, on Thursday night.
He held a knife to the customer's throat and demanded cash from staff.
The man headed off on a bicycle towards Newbiggin Hall with a quantity of money. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
The man was about 5ft 2in and was wearing a black coat and black woollen hat.
