Man killed in car crash is named
Police have named a man who was killed in an accident involving four cars on the A69 in Northumberland.

He was John Nixon, 60, of Chineley Byer, Bardon Mill, Hexham.

The crash happened shortly before 5pm on Monday at Elrington Road Ends, to the east of Haydon Bridge. Four other people were injured.

Northumbria Police are appealing for any witnesses to the accident, which involved a Ford Mondeo, a Peugeot 106, a Mercedes and a Rover.

Following the crash, traffic was diverted along the Military Road until the A69 re-opened at around 2200 GMT.
