Diver missing off coast is named
A diver who went missing off the north-east coast of England has been named by police.

A major air and sea operation was held after Nicholas George Jackson, 25, of Tamworth Road, Newcastle, failed to surface on Sunday.

He had been diving on Danny's Wreck, east of Amble, in Northumberland.

Two RNLI lifeboats, three helicopters and a warship were involved in the initial search and there was also an underwater search on Monday.

On Monday, the Amble lifeboat and the diver's support vessel Spellbinder returned to the site for an underwater search.

A team of divers was sent down from Spellbinder to carry out a search of the wreck but they were unable to find anything and both boats later returned to their ports on Monday afternoon.

Mr Jackson was single and an experienced recreational diver, police said.

Northumbria Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
