Teesside bridge closed after cracks appear

A road bridge on Teesside has been closed after cracks appeared following heavy rain.

Police were called to Leven Bank Bridge, on the A1044 near Yarm, on Friday evening.

Structural engineers attended and it was decided to close the bridge as a safety precaution.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said bridge specialists were carrying out a further assessment, and diversions were currently in place.
