Soldier dies after club assault

A teenage soldier has died four days after being injured in a fight at a County Durham nightclub.

The 19-year-old, from Glasgow, was found unconscious near the dance floor of Escapade nightclub in Gladstone Street, Darlington, on Saturday.

Three teenagers have been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.

The soldier, who was based at Catterick, North Yorkshire, suffered severe head injuries and died at James Cook Memorial Hospital, Middlesbrough.

Durham Police has appealed for witnesses.
