Council plan to protect coastline

People are being invited to find out more about proposals to protect a stretch of Teesside coastline.

Hartlepool Council has been drawing up long-term plans for defending the Seaton Carew area from rising sea levels and erosion.

Following a public consultation, the council will outline a range of options during two public meetings.

They will take place at the town's Staincliffe Hotel in the afternoon and the evening of 17 November.

Dennis Hancock, the council's principal engineer, said: "We will be explaining the final options open to us for coastal protection and we are very keen to hear people's views on those.

"This will be the last opportunity for people to comment before the Seaton Carew Coastal Strategy is completed next year."
