Council equipment, including a distinctive bouncy castle in the shape of a spotty dog, has been stolen during a break-in at a depot on Teesside.

The raid, at Middlesbrough Council's Stewart Park storage facility, is thought to have happened overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Several doors were forced and a variety of equipment, worth a total of hundreds of pounds, was taken.

Council staff are working with police and have appealed for information.

Extra building security measures have been introduced and CCTV records are being checked.

The bouncy castle which has "Middlesbrough Dog Warden Service" marked above the entrance ramp, is used to attract interest from families at public events.

Other items stolen included specialist dog handling equipment and cages belonging to the council's dog warden service.
