There are 1,920 employees at the Teesside plant

Preparations are being made for a march and rally in a Teesside town in support of threatened steel jobs. It was announced in May that Corus was set to mothball its Teesside Cast Products (TCP) plant in Redcar, with nearly 2,000 workers facing the axe. Thousands of people are expected to arrive in Redcar for a "Save our Steel" event on Saturday. A steering group, involving the council, unions and emergency services, has been set up to organise it. Roads will be closed in the town, with diversions in place, and there will be a free park and ride service to ferry people to and from the event. Councillor Mark Hannon, Redcar and Cleveland Council's cabinet member for economic development, said: "We can safely say Redcar will never have seen a day like this. "We are positive the march will generate an enormous amount of interest and there's no doubt it will also bring a boost to the town's traders."
