Recession-busting parking offer

Free Saturday parking is being offered in two Teesside towns in attempt to boost high street sales during the economic recession.

The scheme is on offer at long-stay car parks in Fisherman's Square and Kirleatham Street, Redcar, and Belmont House and Walkers Row in Guisborough.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council hopes the move will build on a successful free Sunday parking scheme.

The decision follows consultations with traders in both town centres.
