Officers sacked over misconduct

Two Cleveland police officers have lost their jobs and two civilian staff have been sacked over misconduct claims.

The force began an internal investigation last November when allegations came to light.

The officers involved are thought to have been based in Middlesbrough and included a detective.

A force spokeswoman said disciplinary matters were confidential and the details of the misconduct allegations would not be released.

All those involved were suspended while the investigation was carried out.

Disciplinary hearing

A force spokeswoman said: "Cleveland Police can confirm that two members of police staff have been dismissed for gross misconduct.

"A police officer was also required to resign for breaching the Police Conduct Regulations.

"Another police officer resigned prior to a disciplinary hearing taking place for an alleged breach of Police Conduct Regulations.

"Disciplinary matters are confidential between the force and the individual or individuals concerned and as such it would be inappropriate to comment further."

The force said the investigation did not involve criminal allegations.
