Race pigeons die in arson attack

More than 80 racing pigeons were killed in an arson attack in Redcar early on Wednesday morning.

The birds, which were worth a "considerable" amount according to police, died in the fire at Kilton Lane allotments, Lingdale.

The fire destroyed the two pigeon cages which housed the birds, along with a large area of the allotments.

Cleveland Police have appealed for anyone with information about the arson to come forward.
