Views sought on bus service needs

People on Teesside are being asked if the bus service is meeting their needs.

Hartlepool Council, which spends about £450,000 a year supporting 20 routes, is going through a re-tendering process with new contracts due in August.

The cash enables operating companies to provide services which otherwise would not be deemed financially viable.

Council staff will be at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre on Thursday and Friday to offer information and gauge the views of the travelling public.

Geoff Knowlson, Hartlepool Council's public transport co-ordinator, said: "The feedback from the survey will be used to help us assess whether the money we currently spend is being used in a way that best meets the transport needs of adults, children and the local community as a whole.

"That is why it is important that as many people as possible give us their views, and I would urge people to visit our stand."
