Sex assault by bogus taxi driver

A 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted after getting into a vehicle she believed to be a taxi.

The victim got into the burgundy mini-bus on Fabian Road, in Eston, Teesside, after asking if it was the taxi she had ordered to take her to work.

The driver said it was. As it drove off he asked how he would be paid for the fare, before sexually assaulting her.

She realised it was not her taxi, and made her escape when he pulled over to allow her make a phone call.

No meter

Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened at about around 0635 GMT on Saturday.

The driver is described as being in his 30s, and of scruffy appearance, with dark spiky hair and stubble.

He is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The interior of the mini-bus was old and grey and had no taxi meter.
