Woman dies after police van crash

A woman has died one month after she was injured in a head-on crash with a police van on Teesside.

She was driving her car when it was involved in a collision on Newport Bridge Approach, Middlesbrough, with a police van responding to an emergency.

The 25-year-old from Thornaby was taken to hospital following the accident on 18 October, but died on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "Our deepest sympathies go out to her family."

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is carrying out an investigation.
