Armed robber targets cash machine

An armed robber who stole cash from a machine at a Teesside supermarket is being sought by police.

A security guard was filling the machine at the Somerfield store in Yarm when he was approached by a man brandishing a weapon.

He grabbed an amount of cash and made off in a red Nissan Primera, later found dumped nearby in The Rigg.

It is believed the Nissan may have been in the area for some time before the robbery on Tuesday lunchtime.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cleveland Police.
