Thieves steal electricity cables

Thieves would have been left shocked and burned after stealing part of the base of an electricity transmitter in Middlesbrough, Cleveland police said.

The cables were cut and stolen along the A1085 at Grangetown on Saturday.

Electricity supplier CE Electric has warned of the dangers of tampering with with equipment.

The company said in the past 18 months, three copper thieves had died and six others had suffered horrific injuries breaking into an electrical substation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.
